Sean explores farm animal competitions and rides at the Royal Toowoomba Show!
This week Adam and I got to host the show from the Royal Toowoomba Show, so it was rides and farm animals as far as the eye could see!
The farmers take the judging very seriously with everything from wool to udders being put under the microscope. The udder competition is quite in-depth with shape, size, balance and teat position all being very important.
The prize bulls are also taken very good care of, getting a shampoo and blow dry before the event!
The most pampered show animals though would have to be the horses, besides having a very luxurious wash, they also get a hair cut, their manes combed and braded, and makeup is even used to make the horses look their best.
Besides the show animals there are also competitions of another kind….pig racing! These little "oinkers" fly around the course for gold, and the prize at the end is a dish of milk. But my favourite farm animal would have to be the baby goats, they are so friendly and don't mind a cuddle.
Going to a Royal Show wouldn't be complete without jumping on the rides; mind you we didn't go on anything too full on. Teacups and the Ferris Wheel were as courageous as we got, besides the ghost train, which was actually pretty scary!
All up, I had a great time hosting a week of TW at the Toowoomba Show. Don't forget if you have any ideas of where you would like us to host the show or maybe some challenges for us to attempt, send them through to totallywild@networkten.com.au
Stay Wild,
