This week I got to check out one of the biggest importers of live fish in Australia. Now, you probably don't know this, but I am obsessed with fish, I have two massive tanks at home and a pond in my back yard, so you could say I was pretty happy to be reporting this story!
These importers get their fish from all over the world, from across Europe to Asia, so when the fish come in they have to go through Quarantine to make sure they aren't bringing in any diseases or bugs from overseas. It really blows your mind to see just how many different types of fish you can have as pets, I wanted to buy half of the fish they had there, but to do that I would probably need to convert my house into an aquarium!
As well as filming fish I also did a story on the Baron River Gorge power plant near Cairns. This power station can power 36,000 homes without producing any harmful greenhouse gases, pretty impressive huh!? The water runs off the Atherton table lands and surges down through tropical rainforest to the coast, flowing through the turbines at the power plant along the way to produce electricity. It's really amazing to see the power of water at work and also the beautiful rainforests that surround the Baron River.
