Sean hangs out with 300 baby bats and then challenges two pros to a game of Lawn Bowls (with Pip as his trusted team mate)….
This week, I go a little bit batty! Literally! I drop in on Trish Wimberley, a wildlife carer; she has over 300 bats to look after. Trish is no ordinary carer, she pretty much runs her own clinic with help from an army of volunteers; it's amazing to see that sort of dedication to protecting and looking after native wildlife.
Baby flying foxes are beautiful little mammals and can go through quite a rough time if they become separated from their mothers, and when they come into care they can be suffering from starvation or even pneumonia. Trish knows exactly what to do when a bat comes into her clinic, and she nearly always makes a successful release back into the wild. Out of the 300 injured and ill baby bats that came into her care, 98% survived, now that's a great result!
Pip and I also joined forces this week in a TW Challenge to beat all challenges. Well nearly! We take on some seasoned professionals in a game of Lawn Bowls; needless to say this was a lot of fun!
You'll be surprised to hear that it actually requires a fair bit of skill to throw a weighted ball down a green and to hit a tiny jack at the other end. You'll have to tune in to see if we win this challenge and take out first in this epic match.
If you have any presenter challenges you would like us to try out, either presenter versus presenter or TW Reporters against the World. Send them through to totallywild@networkten.com.au
Stay Wild,
Sean :)
