Sean gets to hang out with some squirrel monkeys! He also discovers how you farm a Rock Lobster.
This week, I got to hang out with a group of Squirrel Monkeys. These little primates are very cute a very intelligent! They were very friendly when I hopped into their enclosure and came over to check me out; they were a little unsure of me at first but once I delivered their breakfast we were the best of friends. I didn't join them for the meal though, meal worms and chicken wrapped up in palm fronds aren't quite my style, but they loved it. They also got a fruit platter, but the little guys had gobbled up the whole thing as soon as it hit their plates. They have a very big appetite for such little monkeys.
Up in Townsville, I dropped in on some researchers who are trying to figure out how to successfully farm rock lobsters. Rock Lobsters are extremely popular seafood item; they are so popular, wild populations of these special crustaceans are disappearing. So to make sure they don't become endangered, these scientific crusaders are creating the perfect Rock Lobster environment for them to breed, feed and be farmed.
