Summer Series: Deborra-Lee Furness!
Deborra-Lee Furness
Actor, director and producer Deborra-Lee Furness, is passionate about adoption and is an ambassador for National Adoption Awareness Week. She and husband Hugh Jackman are parents to 11-year-old son Oscar and a six-year old daughter Ava, both adopted from overseas. The couple used the US adoption processes which took about 12 months for each child. In comparison, the Australian process can leave couples waiting up eight years to adopt a child. Deborra is determined to campaign until the bureaucratic obstacles to adoption of overseas children in Australia are eliminated.
Visit www.adoptionawarenessweek.com.au for further information.
Nancye Hayes & Pamela Rabe
Based on the documentary of the same name, Grey Gardens (the musical) tells the riches-to-rags story of the eccentric aunt and cousin of Jackie Onassis. Edith Ewing Bouvier Beale (‘Big Edie’) and her daughter Edith (‘Little Edie’), lived in squalor and abject poverty in their Grey Gardens estate after a life of high society and glamour. Nancye Hayes and Pamela Rabe take on the respective roles of ‘Big Edie’ and ‘Little Edie’ and they join us to discuss the intriguing story of these reclusive women who shunned social conventions.

Geoffrey Edelsten
Business entrepreneur and innovator, celebrity and medico, Professor Geoffrey Edelsten has lived anything but a quiet life.
His ground-breaking medical clinics introduced bulk-billing and 24-hour services – which were copied all over the world. Now, at 69, he has sold his Allied Medical Group for a reported $100 million and bought a Dominican Republic resort and casino, a share in his wife Brynne's favourite Nurielle fashion label, a private jet and a slice of two film productions. But it hasn’t always been an easy road; Geoffrey still fights to clear his name after spending a year in jail for bribing a hit man. He reveals all in his new biography, Enigma, and today he joins us on the couch to share the story of his extraordinary life.
