Eating Seasonally:
It's said that eating seasonally is the best for your body because it's what grows in nature at that time of the year and it's what your body needs in each particular season to function optimally! In the summer time there's an abundance of fruit which are great sources of electrolytes and natural sugars, these are the things we lose when we sweat more.

Berries:
Contain antioxidants - are great for protecting the heart and a great way to stop wrinkles forming too. Note, these guys are heavily sprayed so go organic when you can and if not, then always give them a quick wash - but be sure not to water log them.

Try a berry facial - mash berries with honey and avocado - leave on for 10-20 minutes then rinse off, you'll be glowing all week!

Stone Fruit
Plums, apricots, nectarines, peaches - these guys are full of goodies, and most of the health benefits are in the skin, the brighter the skin the better! They are also a great source of fibre so they'll help to keep you regular! In fact, dried apricots and prunes are some of the highest food sources of iron - which we need for energy function!

Pineapple:
Great source of bromelaine which helps you to digest your meal better, also powerful anti-inflammatory effect on the body! Try having pineapple after a meat dish so you can help to break down the protein in the meal. Works a treat!

Mango:
Fibre and antioxidants! It's also jam pack full of vitamin A - so just one mango a day gives you all the Vit A you need. It helps with eye-sight and specifically seeing in dimly lit rooms (much like carrots). It's even linked to protecting the heart!

Sugar Content in Fruit
Loads of people are worried about the sugar content of fruit, but in the summer time we tend to burn the natural sugars off as we're more active. If you're really worried stick to berries and with most of the other fruits keep the skin on to up the fibre and reduce the glucose spike caused from eating sweet things.

Cooking Tip
Try throwing some berries or cut up some stone fruit through your next salad. Adds a whole new dimension!
