Summer Pruning
Most rose pruning is done in winter but if you want the best out of your roses give them a summer prune too. Simply prune off one third of growth in a rounded shape after each flush of flowers has finished.
Timing your Rose Display
Did you know that you can actually time the display of your roses so they flower in time for a special event like Christmas? You can plan for a good display by simply trimming back your roses 6-8 weeks before the event. It’s not an exact art; it’s a bit of trial and error, but it is fun trying. The warmer the weather gets the shorter that stretch becomes. So at the cooler end of the flowering season it can be more like 8 weeks – 6 weeks in the heat of summer. Why not give it a go!
Featured roses available from most Bunnings Stores and good garden centres. Look out for the Rankin’s Roses Logo on the pots.
