Ingredients
Serves 4-6250ml warm water (too hot and it will kill the yeast!)
7g dry yeast
½ tsp caster sugar
450g plain flour
2 tbsp olive oil
1 tsp sea salt
Toppings of choice - refer to methods
Method
To make the dough, combine water, yeast and sugar in a medium bowl. Add 200g flour and mix to a sloppy paste. Add remaining flour then oil and salt. Mix well.
Remove dough to a clean, lightly floured surface and knead until smooth. Divide into orange size balls and set aside until required.
Push or roll out to fit pizza trays, add your favourite toppings and bake.
Savoury Pizza
Preheat oven to 200°C (or 180°C for fan forced).
Smooth tomato passata over base, or use salsa or tomato paste if you prefer.
Sprinkle with a little mozzarella cheese.
Add toppings like roasted vegetables, mushrooms, capsicum, pesto, chicken, ham or anything you fancy. Even some leftover roast from the fridge would do and all those leftover roast vegies are perfect on top. Sprinkle with a few herbs like basil or rosemary or parsley.
Top with a little more mozzarella.
Put in hot oven for 12 to 15 minutes until cheese has melted and pizza is golden on the bottom.
Sweet Pizza
Preheat oven to 200°C (or 180°C for fan forced).
Push out pizza dough onto tray and brush with olive oil to stop it drying out. Bake for 10 minutes.
Take out and spread while still warm with nutella or jam. Then spread with marshmallow paste (in a jar) or top with chocolate buttons, marshmallows or fruit. The heat of the pizza will slowly melt the marshmallows and make them delicious. Sprinkle with icing sugar.
Cut into slices and serve with ice-cream.
