Ingredients
Serves 4-63 cups self-raising flour
Pinch of salt
1 cup cream
1 cup lemonade
Butter for frying
Golden Syrup for serving
Method
Sift flour and salt into a large bowl. Make a well in the centre. Pour in cream and lemonade.
Mix with a knife until mixture comes together. Turn dough onto a lightly-floured surface. Knead gently until smooth and pliable. Pat out to about 2cm thickness.
Cut scones into rounds using a scone cutter.
Instead of baking them, you fry them in butter, very slowly.
Then while they’re still hot (VERY IMPORTANT), spread golden syrup on the outside.
Nanna used to cut them in half and spread butter and golden syrup in the middle as well!
