Emma Forrest
Emma Forrest’s memoir of self-harm and attempted suicide is frank, confronting, lyrical, beautiful, and so raw. She set out to write a book about her shrink who died suddenly, leaving many loving patients with a huge loss. In doing so she found her own voice and freedom. Emma joins us to share her story and help us understand manic depression and the amazing work some health professionals do.

Host Chat: Emma & Jordan’s Stories
Over the past week, friends of The Circle have brought a couple of stories to our attention that have reminded us of how precious life is and how it can turn on dime. We’d like to share these stories with you so you can join us in supporting families that are going through tragedy but also to remind us how quickly things can change.
On the 14th of March 2011, Emma De Silva, her nineteen day old daughter Eloise and dog Pierre set out for their daily afternoon walk. Three hundred metres from home, a car mounted the curb, knocking Emma into the air, before colliding with Eloise in her pram. Eloise suffered minor brain bleeds and a broken shoulder. To this day, Emma has failed to regain consciousness and remains in a deep coma.

Five-year-old Jordan choked on a toy block last year and was rushed to the Royal Children's Hospital in Brisbane, where he has spent the past eight months. He returned home just before Easter but the accident has left him unable to speak or swallow and in need of a high level of health care.
His New Zealand parents, Melanie and Phil, are not eligible for government assistance and they need financial help to make Jordan's life as comfortable as possible.

Today is Fatality Free Friday - a road safety awareness campaign aimed at reducing our annual road toll. RPM is supporting this initiative. The goal is zero deaths on our roads (nationwide) for one day. We can all make a difference by staying alert and adopting a safe mind-set when you hop in the car or get on the motorbike today. If we can help reduce the annual toll in one day it will draw attention to the need for improved driver education and training.
