Nancye Hayes & Pamela Rabe
Based on the documentary of the same name, Grey Gardens (the musical) tells the riches-to-rags story of the eccentric aunt and cousin of Jackie Onassis. Edith Ewing Bouvier Beale (‘Big Edie’) and her daughter Edith (‘Little Edie’), lived in squalor and abject poverty in their Grey Gardens estate after a life of high society and glamour. Nancye Hayes and Pamela Rabe take on the respective roles of ‘Big Edie’ and ‘Little Edie’ and they join us to discuss the intriguing story of these reclusive women who shunned social conventions.
Grey Gardens - 12 performances only - 25 November to 4 December, The Arts Centre - Playhouse
Bookings: Call 1300182 183 or visit www.theartscentre.com.au or call in at the Arts Centre’s Box-Office.
Deborra-Lee Furness
Actor, director, producer and today’s guest host, Deborra-Lee Furness, is passionate about adoption and is an ambassador for National Adoption Awareness Week. She and husband Hugh Jackman are parents to 11-year-old son Oscar and a six-year old daughter Ava, both adopted from overseas. The couple used the US adoption processes which took about 12 months for each child. In comparison, the Australian process can leave couples waiting up eight years to adopt a child. Deborra is determined to campaign until the bureaucratic obstacles to adoption of overseas children in Australia are eliminated.

Chris Humfrey
They are the world’s smallest penguin and surprisingly, they can be found in the ‘heart’ of many of our Southern capital cities. But this morning they can be found in our studio. Zoologist Chris Humfrey waddles in with his colony (well, two) of Fairy Penguins.
