Ingredients
Serves 6
500g beef steak cubed
500g veal (cubed)
2 onions
500g tomatoes
2 tbsp butter
1 tbsp paprika
1 litre stock (any will be fine)
1 tsp chopped parlsey
Cayenne pepper
1 cup mushrooms (any will do, probably button most popular)
2 tbsp tomato paste
2 tbsp sour cream
Juice of 1 lemon
Method
Remove any skin and fat from the meat and cut into inch cubes. Chop the onions and add these, together with the pieces of meat, to the melted butter in a thick casserole.
Brown evenly.
Add pepper and paprika. Skin and slice the tomatoes. Lay them on top of the meat and onions. Cover with stock (or water), put lid on the pan and cook slowly for about 1 hour.
Add in mushrooms, tomato paste, sour cream and lemon juice. Cook a further 10 minutes.
Serve on a flat dish surrounded by mashed potato and green beans. Garnish with chopped parsley.
