Ingredients
Serves 4Dirt
200gm dark chocolate
200gm sugar
2 eggs
1 egg yolk
140gm butter
85gm plain flour
Pots
500 gm chocolate
Filling for pots
500gm chocolate
600ml milk
40 gm roasted coconut
For garnish
80 gms peeled and crushed pistachio nuts
1 punnet strawberries washed, hulled and quartered
Edible flowers (optional)
Method
Making the Dirt
Preheat the oven to 160°C. Grease and line a baking tray.
Place the butter and chocolate in a heatproof bowl over a pan of simmering water (don't let bowl touch water).
When butter and chocolate have melted, remove from heat and allow to cool slightly.
Beat the sugar. Whisk in the eggs one at a time, beating well after each addition, then add egg yolk and flour, beating until smooth. Pour mixture into pan, smoothing the top.
Bake for 15 minutes, then take out and rub the baked chocolate mixture to create a crumbly 'dirt', then spread out on baking tray again and bake for another 5 - 10 minutes
Allow to cool.
Making the Chocolate Pots
Spray the inside of your chocolate pots with oil.
Line the inside of the pot with cling wrap.
Melt chocolate over a bain-marie (water bath) then pour into the lined pot, making sure it covers the insides.
Turn pot upside down to let excess melted chocolate drip out.
Allow chocolate to set.
Gently remove chocolate from pot with the cling wrap attached - then carefully remove Cling Wrap from around the chocolate.
Making the Chocolate Liquid
Melt the dark chocolate over the bain-marie and slowly add milk and coconut to make a running chocolate mix.
Refrigerate and when nearly cool, hand whisk again to lighten mixture
Assembling
Right before serving, pop your chocolate pots on top of the chocolate dirt.
Pour your liquid chocolate into the pots.
Add shredded coconut and pistachio to create the look of grass on top of the liquid, then decorate with edible flowers and strawberries.
*This is essentially a brownie mix, so if you want to, you could keep half the dirt mix to make a brownie slice.
