Flight of the Conchords - Summary
Flight of the Conchords is an original new comedy series from HBO which follows the trials and tribulations of a witless two man, folk music duo from New Zealand [also named Flight of the Conchords], who hope to break into the music industry in their recently adopted home of New York City.
The real life duo, Bret McKenzie and Jemaine Clement, both play naive fictionalised versions of themselves. During their quest for music success, they attend bohemian parties, acquire an obsessed fan, hurt each others feelings and pursue relationships with elusive women. As we see, the duo's innocent, misguided efforts to find romance or land a gig rarely yield dividends, but they do often spawn out-burts of song, which appear as subtle parodies of pop music videos ranging from 80's pop to rap and swing.
Flight of the Conchords is a dry, deadpan comedy in a similar vain to The Office, Extras and Curb Your Enthusiasm. The series feature a hilarious support cast including Arj Barker, Rhys Darby and Kristen Schall.
