When it comes to training dogs, there isn't much Steve Austin doesn't know. Recognised as Australia's premier dog trainer, Steve's talents are as much in demand here as they are overseas in Europe, America and Japan.
One of his Key talents is in detection work with Quarantine agencies, having placed more than 50 teams in roles for the Department of Agriculture, Fisheries and Forestry. Steve can train dogs to sniff out everything from fruit to illegal narcotics, as is the case with his work for the NSW Police Dog Unit. In fact, Steve is a partner in a business producing Australian truffles where Steve naturally trains dogs to sniff out the delectable fungi.
Steve's interests are not only in working dogs. He is a director of the Pet Industry Association of Australia (PIAA) and Assistance Dogs Australia which helps disabled people with trained companion dogs.
Steve is invited to speak at many seminars and was recently speaking at Californian Narcotic Canine Police Dog Narcotic Dog training association. Next he will travel to Japan to hold seminars on all forms of dog training. Steve will also be judging the European drug searching championships in May 2007.
Steve is the recommended animal trainer for the RSPCA NSW.
As a judge for Celebrity Dog School, Steve brings his experience as a licensed judge for the Australian National Kennel Control and as a competitor with his own dogs in agility and obedience.
Steve is a much sought after presenter. Audiences are left highly motivated and inspired by his entertaining and educational presentations. His unequalled practical experience combined with sound theory knowledge enables him to speak effectively to a wide range of groups, including: Taronga Zoo, Warner Bros Movie World, The Nepalese Army Explosive Detector Dog Unit in Kathmandu, Nepal.
If you have any doubt as to Steve's commitment to the canine world, he recently married fellow Dog Trainer Vicki Bourke and postponed his honeymoon until after Celebrity Dog School is over.
