At eighteen Blake has become the first ever "trainee" Lifeguard appointed by Waverley Council. He’s young, gangly and looks like a fish out of water amongst the cut and bronzed Bondi Lifeguards.While most Lifeguards are locals Blake lives in Penrith and has spent little time at the beach. Having performed in junior triathlons he's a strong swimmer and runner, but never been a member of a surf club. His only lifeguard experience is at the local swimming pool in St. Marys. In two years he's never performed a rescue. Blake is as enthusiastic as a young puppy but how will this rookie handle life and death rescues on the world's busiest beach?
Personal Q & A's with BlakeAge: 18yrs Years as lifeguard: This is my first year at the beach and I have spent three year life guarding at public pools, primarily in Penrith. Home beach: Whichever one I want! Tell us one thing about you people may not know: I broke my arm and did not go to the doctors for three days. I look after myself pretty well! The Fave ListYour favourite film & why? Hitch- as I wish I was as smooth as Will Smith. Your favourite band & why? Your favourite food? Anything that's edible really…! Your favourite sport & why? To watch I like a good game of rugby. But to participate in I like cycling as it's just me on the bike and its about endurance- its full of little mind games. Its not about who’s the best rider, its who rides the best. Your favourite book? I am too busy to read! Your favourite actor/actress & why? Choosing just one is hard but I'd say Adam Sandler, he is always good for a laugh! |
