Network Ten’s Entertainment Reporter Angela Bishop has established herself as a prominent identity within both the Australian and international entertainment media.
Her first involvement in the entertainment industry was in Law and Med revues at the University of New South Wales, while studying a Bachelor of Arts (majoring in Political Science and Drama). A serious player in student politics, she served as the first female Chairman of the Student Union.
Regularly called upon by international broadcasters to report on events happening within Australia, Angela’s experience includes being a live correspondent for CNN during the Sydney Olympics. As a guest at Michael Jackson's Sydney wedding to Debbie Rowe, Angela reported live on the same event for CNN, CBS and the BBC.
Angela also reported live from the Sydney wedding of Nicole Kidman and Keith Urban Sydney to programs around the world. She covered Princess Diana's tour of Australia in 1996 and was invited to briefly interview her during that visit.
But her biggest interview to date has been with Oprah Winfrey, during her Ultimate Australian Adventure. The interview featured in a special written and hosted by Angela which was the number one program of the night and the 2nd highest rating show of that week.
She also scored a rare one on one interview with Borat, the alter ego of comedian Sacha Barron Cohen. It took place on Sydney’s famous Bondi beach and has had nearly half a million hits on Youtube. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=M1afp-2kpAY
Angela joined Network Ten in 1989, as a general news reporter but it wasn’t long before she moved into current affairs, reporting for Hinch and Alan Jones Live. In 1994, she became the network's Entertainment Reporter. Her reputation and credibility is such that she is regularly invited overseas to visit film sets and interview the stars and creators of music, film and television.
Angela has interviewed Audrey Hepburn, Sean Connery, Julia Roberts, Hugh Grant, Morgan Freeman, Liam Neeson, Ewan Macgregor, Denzel Washington, Catherine Zeta-Jones, Drew Barrymore, Halle Berry, Brad Pitt, Angelina Jolie, Jennifer Aniston, Jamie Foxx, Renee Zellweger, Susan Sarandon, Dennis Hopper, Dustin Hoffman, Gene Hackman, Jack Nicholson, Danny De Vito, Arnold Schwarzenegger, Julie Andrews, Billy Connelly, Rupert Murdoch, Kristen Stewart, Ann Hathaway, Steve Carrell, Orlando Bloom, Miranda Kerr, Elle Macpherson, Jodie Foster, Mel Gibson, Daniel Craig, Cate Blanchett, Heath Ledger, Naomi Watts, Sir Anthony Hopkins, Michael Jackson, Janet Jackson, Bette Midler, Robin Williams, Billy Crystal, Jerry Seinfeld, Elton John, Stevie Wonder, Sting, Jon Bon Jovi, Rihanna, Britney Spears, Bono, Usher, Lionel Richie, Mick Jagger and many more.
Regularly called upon by movie companies to host Australian premieres and media conferences, Angela has MC’ed the premiere of Vanilla Sky with Tom Cruise and Cameron Crowe, Death Defying Acts with Catherine Zeta- Jones, The Break-Up with Jennifer Aniston and Vince Vaugn and Love and Other drugs with Anne Hathaway and Jake Gyllenhaal.
Using her extensive film and television knowledge Angela has also hosted a number of other Network Ten specials including From Jaws to the Deep Blue Sea, Star Wars: The Phantom Menace, Mama Mia, It's Abba! and Inside the Matrix.
In addition to entertainment reporting for TEN News, Angela presents a weekly national entertainment bulletin on TEN's 9am national news once a week and is a regular contributor to TEN’s daily irreverent early evening news round up, The 7pm Project.
Away from the television cameras, Angela can be heard behind the microphone at Sydney's talk-back radio station 2UE, where she delivers regular entertainment reports.
A committed and active member of the Sydney Breast Cancer Foundation and Pink Ribbon Ball committee, Angela is also a dedicated fundraiser for the Grace Centre for newborn care at Sydney Children's Hospital Westmead.
Angela married Peter Baikie in May 2005 and in October 2007 they welcomed their beautiful daughter Amelia.
