Stephen Quartermain
Born in Melbourne, Stephen Quartermain lived in New York, London and Sydney before finally settling back in Melbourne at the age of 10.
He began his career in journalism in 1980 as a cadet reporter with Leader Associated Newspapers, moving two years later to the ABC. During his three years as an ABC radio and television journalist, he gained extensive experience covering politics, industrial rounds, police rounds and his first love, sport.
Stephen joined the TEN Network in December 1984.
Highlights of his career include on-the-spot reporting at the 1988 Seoul and Sydney 2000 Olympic Games, the 1990 Auckland and 1994 Canadian Commonwealth Games, the 1989 Ashes cricket tour of England, Wimbledon, the World Gymnastics Championships in Germany and the Irish football series in 2006.
Between 1990 and 1995 Stephen hosted an AFL show which was seen in Britain, the United States, Canada and more than 20 other countries. During 1991 he co-hosted TEN’s popular sports program Sportsweek.
Stephen also anchors the Network’s nightly sports reports in Melbourne. During his career Stephen has won several sporting awards for his coverage of cricket, football, basketball and swimming. He also runs his own media consultancy business “Quartertime”.
Stephen has called and hosted seven Grand Finals for television and six for radio as well as hosting five Brownlow Medal counts.
2009 saw Stephen host new footy program 'One Week at a Time' airing on ONE. He also headed back in the commentary box for Triple M radio.
