Peter O'Dempsey has been a Senior Sports Journalist and Presenter with Ten's First at Five News since 1998.
Born in Rockhampton, Peter studied for a Bachelor of Arts in Journalism at the University of Southern Queensland.
He began his career in the media as a sports writer for the Toowoomba Chronicle while still studying, and completed his Journalism cadetship with Win Television in Toowoomba.
Peter was quickly promoted to being Win Television's Senior Sports Journalist in Queensland (and Toowoomba Sports Editor), as well as writing, producing and presenting sporting documentaries for the Nine Network's Wide World of Sports program.
He was also heavily involved in live broadcasts commentating on Queensland Cup rugby league matches, and surf lifesaving.
After joining Network Ten, Peter concentrated on covering rugby league and rugby union, travelling with the Queensland State of Origin team for more than 12 years.
He is considered an expert in his field, and is one of the most experienced sports Journalists in Queensland.
He has been the senior sports anchor for Network Ten Queensland since 2007.
Peter and wife April have one son.
