Samuel Johnson has established a reputation as one of Australia’s busiest film and television actors.
Samuel has been widely acknowledged by his peers and the public and was awarded the AFI Award for Best Actor in a Leading Role in a Television Drama Series for The Secret Life of Us in 2001 and was nominated for Best Actor in a Supporting Role for After the Deluge in 2003. His Logie nominations include Most Popular Actor in 2002 and 2003 and Most Outstanding Actor in 2003.
More recently, Samuel appeared with Gold Logie winner John Wood in the theatre production of The Haunting of Daniel Gartrell and had the opportunity to work on Dreamworks’ mini-series The Pacific.
This is Samuel’s fourth season of RUSH starring as Intelligence Operator Leon Broznic.
ABOUT THE CHARACTER
LEON BROZIC
PLAYED BY SAMUEL JOHNSON
Leon Broznic, 32 – Intelligence, civilian
The team’s eyes, ears and brain, Leon is an integral part of TR, they collectively and individually know this. In any situation requiring his help, Leon is almost always a critical beat ahead of the others on the ground. Tactics and strategy – this is how his mind works. He feels superior to the people he works with – where would they be, with their guns and their pepper spray and their sirens and their negotiating skills, if they didn’t have Leon gathering intelligence to guide them and to smooth the way.
Leon is a misfit, he’s awkward, rumpled, a mess. He has terrible taste in clothes, wears battered footwear, and the team is convinced he even cuts his own hair.
This season sees him employ Amber, his niece, for a helping hand in the Ops room, it’s not long until she endears herself to the team.
