Starr came relatively late to acting, starting his career in the mid-nineties, with his first screen appearance being on the iconic Kiwi soap Shortland Street. His natural on-screen charm quickly lead to roles in New Zealand and international productions,
In 2006 Starr was cast in the dual roles of twins Van and Jethro West in Outrageous Fortune, a show which has grown into the most popular, long-running drama series in NZ television history. As a result Starr has received six consecutive Best New Zealand Actor awards, has won Best Actor at the 2007 Pan Asian Television Awards and was a finalist as Best Actor at the 2009 Seoul International Drama Awards.
2011 saw Antony appear in the Australian feature Say Nothing and is looking forward to continuing his career at home in New Zealand and also abroad in Australia and the USA.
SENIOR SARGEANT CHARLIE LEWIS
PLAYED BY ANTONY STARR
Charlie Lewis, 36, Senior Sergeant
After an unexplained assassination of the police minister, Charlie Lewis comes in as the latest addition to the TR squad – and is understandably met with some resistance. Not only is he the latest kid on the block but he’s now head honcho, reporting to Kerry and nobody else. Only focused on achieving results.
Lewis has a no-nonsense approach to work and is quick to address potential problems that may affect the efficency of his squad. What will he say about Lawson and Shannon’s relationship and Stella’s partying habits?
Charlie’s addition to the TR squad is something Lawson is not happy about, causing even more stress to an already strained working relationship between him and Kerry. Expect plenty of headbutting between Charlie and Lawson.
