Ryan Campbell
Long considered one of the most dangerous limited-over's batsmen in Australia, Ryan forged a prestigious cricket career as a wicket keeper and middle order batsman.
His career highlights included racking up the fastest half century by any Australian batsman in domestic cricket, representing Australia in One Day Cricket, and as a leading team member of the Western Warriors for ten years.
His 257 dismissals as wicketkeeper for Western Australia puts him fourth on the list in Western Australia’s Pura Cup Cricket record books. He is also a rare commodity for having invented his own cricket stroke – the “back shot” – which he crafted during a match between Australian and Sri Lanka. The technique involves flicking the ball over his and the wicket – keeper’s heads.
Ryan retired from competitive cricket in 2005 but is still involved in the sport as a specialist commentator for Radio 6PR and will join Network Ten as a commentator for ONE's Indian Premier League coverage starting in April.
