JIMMY PROUDMAN
A loyal friend, brother and son, Jimmy is playful and warm. Times are always exciting when Jimmy is around. In truth, Jimmy tends the bar at the pub across the road from his father’s real estate office. But ‘truth’ is an elastic concept to Jimmy, one which he never allows to stand in the way of a good adventure. An imaginative young man with a thirst for experiences, Jimmy took a ‘gap year’ after high school and has managed to transform it into a ‘gap life’.
Growing up as the youngest Proudman, Jimmy is yet to develop a strong sense of who he is. He prefers to see himself as a kind of tour guide, adapting easily to any situation he finds himself in and quickly becoming whatever other people want him to be, in order to provide them with a great experience of themselves. Jimmy doesn’t tell lies; he makes up stories. He is a chameleon, a gifted improviser who lives in the moment and treats himself like a blank canvas onto which people can project their own longing for a life less ordinary. Rushing home on the news of his father’s heart attack, Jimmy surprises the entire Proudman family with his decision to settle down with fellow traveller and new girlfriend Tammy.
