Asher Keddie

Asher Keddie

is a highly regarded and critically acclaimed actor, having worked extensively in theatre, film and television.

Making her theatre debut for the Melbourne Theatre Company (MTC) in 1998 in Patrick Marber’s Closer, Asher went on to appear in Cyrano de Bergerac, Les Liaisons, Dangereuses, Birthrights, Great Expectations, The Seagull and Hannie Rayson’s Life After George. Her performances in the 2005 MTC production of Les Liason Dangereusess,  and the Playbox’s The Ishmael Club, both earned her highly respected Green Room Award nominations.

Asher’s television credits are numerous and one she is best known for is in the successful television series Love My Way.  Her intelligent and captivating portrayal of Julia in this award winning series garnered rave reviews and much attention from her peers in the industry. She received numerous award nominations throughout the three-series run, including a coveted AFI award nomination for Best Actress in a Television Series in 2006, and consecutive Logie Award nominations for Most Outstanding Actress in a Television Series in 2005 and 2006.

Other television credits include roles in the ABC production of Curtin, the Bryan Brown produced series Twisted Tales, and TEN’s The Society Murders.  Asher has also played guest roles in successful long running and well known television series such as The Secret Life Of Us, MDA, Halifax F.P and Last Man Standing.

Asher’s feature film roles include playing opposite Hugh Jackman in Wolverine, and in the independent feature Beautiful, alongside Deborra-Lee Furness and Erik Thomson.

In 2009 Asher returned to television screens with the second series of Channel 9’s Underbelly, playing the lead role of Liz Cruickshank alongside fellow cast members Matt Newton, Peter O’Brien and Peter Phelps. For this role she received an Australian Film Institute award nomination for Best Lead Actress in a television drama. In 2009 Asher also appeared in TEN’s hit drama series Rush alongside Rodger Corser and Catherine McClements.

2010 was another busy and successful year for Asher. In addition to Offspring, Asher also took on the exciting role of Blanche d’Alpuget in TEN’s critically acclaimed tele-movie “Hawke”, opposite Richard Roxburgh as Bob Hawke. Asher earned herself another AFI nomination for Best Supporting Actress in a Television Drama. 2010 also saw Asher take on the challenging role of Ita Buttrose in the ABC telemovie “The Paper Giants”, the story of Ita’s rise to success as the editor of the famous
Cleo Magazine.

NINA PROUDMAN

Nina is a 30-something obstetrician who is used to expecting the unexpected. Her career delivering babies is constantly full of surprises. Her deliciously chaotic family is never short of emergencies. Her ex-husband is an overenthusiastic explosives expert with a tendency to detonate controlled explosions to demonstrate his undying love for her. And Nina is the lynch-pin; the person they all turn to for help in the midst of their crises. Fortunately, Nina is both incredibly capable and incredibly caring, though she is prone to bouts of uncertainty. Offspring follows the pitch and rail of Nina’s adventures as she searches for love, fulfillment and balance in the chaos of modern life.
