Why can't I sign in?

Have you signed-up? If not, you must sign-up to become a member in order to sign-in. If you have signed-up and you still cannot log in, then check and double-check your username and password. Usually this is the problem.

I've forgotten/lost my password!

On the ‘Sign-In’ page, you will see in blue “Reset my password”. Click on this link enter your email address or username and we will send your password to that email address. Check your inbox to find this email.

How do I change my password?

First you need to sign in. Go to the Change Password page and type in your old and new password. Please ensure that your password has at least 7 characters that must contain one  number and one letter.

What is a Social ID?
A Social ID is your Facebook, Twitter, Hotmail or Live.com login. It’s a quicker way for you to become a member and lessens the amount of usernames and passwords you have to remember.

How do I use my Social ID to log-in?
Using your Social ID to log-in is easy. Simply click on the icon representing the social ID you would like to use. You’ll be directed to a new page where you enter your log-in details associated with that site.

For example. If you click on the Facebook logo, you’ll be directed to a facebook page asking you to enter your Facebook login name and password. You’ll then be asked if you would like to use your Facebook access as your log-in for your TEN membership. Click “Allow” and it’s done. You can now use your Facebook log-in details as your TEN membership log-in details. This means you have one login for two sites. Easy!

Registration

Why do I need to become a member?

You need to become a member in order to sign-up to our great newsletters, enter our awesome competitions and post comments on the forums.

Do I need to sign out after using the site?

No but it is recommended. In any case, when you close your browser you are automatically logged out.

How do I change my personal details attached to my account?

You can change your member profile anytime in your ‘personal profile’ settings. To do this, simply login, once logged-in, click on “My Profile” in the top left of the page. Here you can change your details including email address.  You can also amend your subscriptions, favourites and password via the tabs along the top of the page.

What is an avatar?

An avatar is a character that represents you when you interact with the TEN forums.

Do I need an avatar?

No you don't. If you would like one, log-in and click on “Forum Profile” at the top of the page. From here, follow the instructions to add/change your avatar.

Can I create my own avatar?

You can use your own avatar. However, offensive/Copyright material will be removed – as with the user. So please keep your avatar clean.

Why do I need to accept the terms and conditions?

This is a legal requirement to ensure we agree on the conditions by which you access the site. If you don't agree, that's fine, but you can't become a member.

What's the go with the sms/emails?

Occasionally, TEN will send out sms/email messages regarding competitions and special offers. If you have chosen to receive 3rd party emails (‘partner’ emails), these emails may not necessarily come from Ten, but come from our partners, or companies with whom we have commercial arrangements. You can ask not to receive these, however it's free and stuff that we think you'll really enjoy. Do this by changing your “Subscriptions” in your account information.

Why do you need my postcode?

We want to know which parts of Australia our loyal members are from.

When I register, it won't accept my username.

The username you are entering has already been taken. Try another username. It also has to be less than 15 characters.

It won't accept my password.

The password you are entering is not long enough. Your password needs to be at least 6 characters. Passwords are case-sensitive.  If you cannot remember your password after you log in, simply reset it using the above steps.

It won't accept my phone number.

The phone number you are entering is not long enough. Try entering your phone number with your area code included (10 digits in total, eg 02 98765432).

I was a member of video hits but can't log in.

We had to reset some of the passwords. We apologise for this. Simply reset your password and you should be able to log-in again.

TV Guide

Why can't I view the TV Guide?

You need Adobe Flash installed on your computer. Click here to download it from adobe. It’s free. This download is safe, it simply allows your computer to understand Flash files. Don’t worry Adobe is a reputable company.

How do I set a program reminder?

You have to be logged in and have either a mobile number or email address in your account, so that we know where to send the reminder. If that's the case, you just press "set reminder", select your options and Click OK. You'll never miss your favourite show again!

How long are the catch-up TV shows online for?

This really depends on the show and the rights we have to play it online. This can range between 7 and 30days. On average, this show will be accessible for 30-days.

General

I have dial-up Internet. Why is the site so slow?

Unfortunately, due to the large amount of video and images we're providing on our sites, we recommend you have some form of Broadband Internet to get the best out of our site. If you have a slow connection but are committed, you can still use the site but you will have to have some patience.

I want to work at Network TEN, where do I start looking?

That’s great news.  We recommend you visit our careers page and look at what’s available. Fingers crossed we will see you around the building soon.

I've got great internet but the site is still slow. What's up with that?

There are many other reasons why this might be the case. The site may be experiencing excessive demand for our great content. We try to ensure that your experience is the best and our technicians try to resolve any issues before you experience them.

Sometimes, it may also be a problem with your Internet connection. Whatever the case, if the problem is at our end we will no doubt be fixing it as quickly as possible, however if it is a recurring problem then pop it into the feedback topic in the “Contact Us” forum and we'll fix get our technicians onto it.

Why does the video keep lagging?

Video requires very high bandwidth (fast download speeds). While Broadband Speeds are becoming faster, sometimes there can still be a lag.  We recommend you let the show download, then go back and watch it. This should remove the issue for you.

How do I contact Ten?

At the moment, we recommend you use the "Contact Us" at the bottom of our Homepage. Alternatively, you can email us at  tenwebsite@ten.com.au

Forums

How do I post a topic?

First, sign-in. Head to “Community” on TEN.com.au. On the right hadn side of the page, you’ll see “TEN Community”. There will be an input box called “All TEN Communities” with an arrow to the right pointing down. Click on this arrow and select your community.

Once you're there, click "new topic", found on the left at both the top and bottom of the forum page. Come up with a subject, something that explains what you're talking about (not "hi guys" or anything like that), then type away. Click submit and you're done.

So I want to say something, I just post a new topic right??

Not really. To ensure we have a comprehensive list of topics, we try and keep things in some type of order. It is actually done for your benefit, so you can enjoy the site more. If you want to say something, have a quick scan through the forum to see if it fits in and see if someone has already said something similar. For example, if you want to say something about what a character did in the last episode, and there is already a topic about that episode, then put it in there. This can be done by just going to the end of the topic and clicking "add reply".

So I can say whatever I want can't I?

No, you can't. Like any social situation, there are simple rules and protcols that you should follow. Don't abuse people (your membership will be cancelled). Don't swear. Don't give out personal information (for your own security). And most of all, don't discuss anything that is illegal. It's mostly common sense, but there are always bad apples. If you see them, make sure you report them by clicking "report abuse", that way they can be warned or banned, and the post can be removed.

Someone said something really really stupid, so I'm going to tell them what I think.

Sure, but be careful. Text doesn't take into account tone of voice, so sometimes people take things out of context. If you disagree, say so, but under no circumstances may you attack the person. This will be dealt with swiftly by administrators and moderators, and if you see this activity happening ensure you report it ASAP.

How do I edit a post?

You can only edit your own post. If you do, it is likely people have read it already, so make a note in there that says it has been edited so they can stay up to date.

Can I post in all areas of the forum?

At the moment yes, however it is possible for admin to create forums which do not allow users to create new topics, some also do not allow users reply to existing posts, and some even do not let users read the forum at all. This may or may not be used in the future, but be aware it is possible.

Can I use HTML in my posts?

Yes, but not anything that displays an image in your post. If you want to show an image, provide a link to the image.

What are these smiley things?

They are used to convey emotion. When you type a message, you don't see the person's mannerisms or tone of voice, meaning some messages can be misinterpreted. Smileys help avoid this to a certain extent. Click the button for the smiley that you want on the left of the and it will be inserted into your message.

I've got a great image I want to share with the world, can I post it?

Unfortunately not through our forums. Don't get me wrong, we'd love you to, but there are two problems. First, the images may be inappropriate, and second, even if they're completely fine and relevant, we will probably not own the copyright to the image. This is fine for most websites, but for us unfortunately it isn't. If you really want to post an image, you can include a link to the site that image exists on, but it must be completely appropriate. Anything inappropriate will be deleted and you will receive a warning or even be banned. If you discover someone who has done this, please report them to us by clicking "report abuse".

What does it mean when a topic is locked?

It means it's been officially closed. No longer can anyone post anything in it anymore. This may be for a number of reasons, and when it occurs the reason will be posted by the administrator as the last post before it is closed.

Who are these admin and moderator people and what gives them the right to boss me around?

All communities have rules, and all rules need to be enforced. We certainly hope that you will hardly have to see any administrators or moderators, but unfortunately there will always be some bad eggs that spoil it for everyone. To make life easy, please abide by what the admin/moderators say.

Opposing opinion vs personal attack.

There is a big difference. If you disagree with someone, tell them, but do not attack them personally. Discussion is great, even if people start to get a little passionate, as long as only the issues are attacked and not the person. If you do attack someone personally, don’t be surprised to get an email from us or even banned. We have a zero tolerance for cyber bullying.

There's another site that I'm involved with... can I tell people about it?

This is a fine line, and it will be up to the admin/moderators to decide. If another site is relevant to discussion then sure, post away, however anything that is seen as being an advertisement will be removed. Please use common sense and accept the decision of admin/mods.

Can I post articles which are relevant to the forum?

This is another copyright issue unfortunately. If you see an interesting article, simply post a link to it. Then once you've read it, head on back and discuss what you've read. You unfortunately can't post a whole article on our forums.

I found an interesting topic, but it's got heaps of messages!!! I'll just post my message at the end without reading everything.

Be careful doing this. If you do, you will often find the discussion has moved on, and you may come across as ‘old news’. Make sure you read everything that was posted recently so that you are up to date with the conversation.

What is a spoiler?

A spoiler is information that gives away something that happens in an episode that hasn't been shown in Australia yet. Most people don't want to know what's happening in future episodes, but prefer to see it as it happens on TV. You have to be very careful about posting spoilers, see below.

If I want to post a spoiler, how do I do it?

Spoilers are fine, so long they are posted in a topic that has the word SPOILER in capital letters in the topic title. DO NOT under any circumstances post a spoiler in any other topic. If you do, you will be warned or even banned and the post will be removed. Please remember our viewers like to follow the story through.

Can I tell people about sites where we can download shows?

Absolutely NO! This is an illegal activity where hefty penalties can be incurred. We do not condone or allow this to happen on our site. If you do see someone doing this, report them straight away.

General TV

My TV signal keeps cutting out, what do I need to do?

This maybe caused by a number of factors including weather, antenna location, type of antenna, your digital settop box connection or even the strength of the signal and your location to that signal.  First we recommend you turn both you TV and settop box off for 30seconds, then turn them back on.  If this doesn’t correct your issue, we recommend you contact your TV antenna service rep.

I want to work at Network TEN, where do I start looking?

That’s great news.  We recommend you visit our careers page and look at what’s available. Fingers crossed we will see you around the building soon.
