How long have you been a lifeguard? 10 years.
Have you always wanted to be a lifeguard? No wanted to play sports for a living, but being a lifeguard is the next best thing!
Where did you work before Bondi, and what make you chose Bondi? I have always been in Bondi.
What's the funniest thing that you've seen on the beach? People getting smashed on the Bronte shore break is always funny.
What's the most intense rescue you've been a part of? Any near rocks.
What's the greatest lesson you've learnt while being a lifeguard? There are a lot of stupid people out there.
What advice do you have for anyone wanting to become a lifeguard? Enjoy your own thoughts - Its not always 30*c and busy. There are quiet days too (lots of them actually).
Have you ever been scared for your life? No
What do you think are the most important characteristics of a lifeguard? Staying on the ball. Busy or not, it takes seconds for something to happen.
What's the hardest part about your job? Bluebottles. There is nothing that can be done about the pain. So please don't keep asking for the miracle cure!
A situation can turn from fun-and-games to life-and-death in a heartbeat. Does this keep your adrenaline rushing all the time? No, but when the adrenaline does kick in you know about it!
What's it like when there is an emergency? Each one is different. It's interesting to see what people are like and how they react. You get to know your workmates better in an emergency.
What kind of dumb things do you see people doing? You name it, I've seen it.
Have you ever had to revive anyone? Yes - a few people over the years.
If you had one piece of advice for someone wanting to swim at Bondi, what would it be? You don't always have to swim between the flags, but if we ask you to move to between the flags there is a very good reason.
Is lifeguarding the only way you keep fit? No, I play footy.
What was your first rescue like? To long ago to remember.
What do you do during the non-summer period? Are you still patrolling the beach or do you have another job? I'm now a Paramedic full time and only working at the beach casually.
Do the cameras put more pressure on you while you're performing a rescue? Only if you're being a smartarse and stuff up!
Have women ever claimed to be in danger, just to have a handsome lifeguard save them? No!
