Corey Wingard
Corey has hosted South Australia's only football show, "Simply Footy" since it began in 2001 and more recently has been the boundary rider for Ten's national football coverage - with the 2007 Grand Final between Geelong and Port Adelaide the highlight.
He also presents sport on the 5pm nightly news during the summer months and was host of the Indian Premier League Cricket for Network Ten.
South Australian born and bred, Corey grew up in the country before moving to Adelaide where he went to Brighton High School.
Corey played reserves football for Glenelg and Sturt in the SANFL while he completed his Sports Science degree at the University of South Australia. After graduating he worked as a junior development officer for the SANFL before packing up and heading to the Harbour City. There he began his career in television with Channel 9 working on the “Wide World of Sports” program. There he learnt the trade working with some of the best people in the industry… names like Ian Chappell, Richie Benaud, Paul Vautin, Eddie McGuire and Garry Lyon.
So after spending time watching and learning from the best, Corey was given the opportunity to report and commentate by FOX SPORTS and he was assigned to NBL basketball. From there Corey was enticed to Melbourne to be the football reporter for Channel 9’s News and had the pleasure of experiencing football "Victorian style".
With such a passion for sport there was no surprise that when Corey took a 4-month holiday through Europe his journey was littered with stops at some of the world’s best and most prestigious sporting events.
The World Cup Cricket final at Lords, Ladies Day at Royal Ascot, Wimbledon and the French Open Tennis, Hurling in Ireland, Soccer in Rome and Berlin all on the list.
In September 1999, Corey joined Network Ten in Adelaide as the Sports Producer/Reporter and he also presents during the summer. On weekends when he's not working for Network Ten he can be heard commentating AFL football on MMM radio.
Corey loves living in Adelaide. He is married to Emma and he has 4 children, a stepdaughter Amy, stepson Tyson, Heath and Brooke.
