Anthony Hudson
Anthony Hudson is one of the brightest lights to emerge in the world of sports commentary in many years. Born and raised in Bendigo, it was at community radio station 3CCC that Anthony made his entrée into the world of sports media.
It did not take long for the major outlets to identify ‘Huddo’s’ talent. He made the move to Network Ten to join its news department, working in sport. By 1996, Anthony was sitting beside Rex Hunt and heading up 3AW’s award-winning radio broadcasts. Playing the ‘straight’ man alongside Rex is as daunting an ask as there is in the game, but Anthony proved immediately that he could hold his own against one of the game’s largest and most imposing personalities.
From there Anthony was recruited by Channel Seven to join its front-line football commentary team. Working alongside some of the most highly credentialed callers in the country, Anthony more than held his own. In fact, he shone even brighter.
In his time at Seven he hosted several of the network’s football programs and also joined the commentary team covering the 2000 Sydney Olympic Games.
Anthony’s addition to the Network Ten premiership team in 2001 turned out to be an exciting move back to his first television home joining the stellar TEN commentary team.
2002 to 2004 saw Anthony host Fox League Teams on the Fox Footy Channel before making his hosting move to TEN's Before the Game in 2004 and 2005.
In 2004, Anthony formed an integral part of the initial line-up on sports talk station SEN1116 as host of The Run Home in drive time with Dermott Brereton, Matt Hardy and later along side retired Demon David Schwarz.
Anthony's radio expertise saw him play a key role in the set up of SEN's foray into AFL match broadcasting in 2007, hosting and calling several games each week.
Anthony has called five Grand Finals for TEN including seeing his mighty Cats bring home the Premiership in 2007.
